Our charity is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who provide the strategic direction and governance for our charity.
We are currently recruiting for new Trustees to join our team. You will have a keen interest in improving the lives of communities through health and wellbeing, yoga or physical activity initiatives; as well as having a strong fit to our values.
We are specifically looking for Trustees with extensive expertise in:
- Legal – Providing legal advice on the charity’s policies, procedures and agreements as well as risk, safeguarding, GDPR and health & safety regulations. Leading on the creation or review of these documents and advising if further advice is required. This role will co-chair our Governance sub-committee which meets quarterly.
- AI, IT & Digital – our systems require a digital transformation to ensure we keep pace with our growing charity’s needs. You will use your knowledge and experience to guide us through the procurement process, offering sound insight, as well as providing guidance and support of our IT processes, cyber security policy, and AI adoption.
- Sponsorship – you will bring significant experience of developing and managing corporate sponsorship partnerships, with a strong track record of securing and growing mutually beneficial commercial partnerships. You will provide strategic advice and guidance to help us build a sustainable sponsorship income stream.
Please note: following a skills audit of our Trustee Board we have identified these skills areas as gaps in our Board’s knowledge. As such, we are not recruiting for Trustees with skills and experience in any other areas and unfortunately will not be able to consider your application.
Our next strategic period will see us expand into Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and other major English cities (for example in Northeast England) so we would welcome applicants from these geographical areas.
We are committed to creating a diverse board which brings varied perspectives and experiences, enhances our decision-making and incorporates community representation.
Trustees should have extensive and varied life experiences, be motivated by social impact, and have a strong interest in physical activity, public health and wellbeing. Trustees should show demonstrable energy and enthusiasm for contributing advice and guidance as a key member of the Board.
Commitment and expectations
Time commitment is estimated as c.1 day per month. This includes:
- Attending four board meetings a year; three of which are online (2 hours) and one in person (full day), plus reading papers in advance of meetings (approximately 1 hour).
- Attending Sub-committee meetings on a rotating basis (Governance, People, Finance): typically, one a quarter (online, 1 hour), with requirements to attend all if Chair of that committee.
- Enjoying a minimum of two Park Yoga sessions a season (if a venue is close to you), attending an annual Yoga Instructor or Volunteer training session and occasional fundraising or networking events.
- Being available for ad-hoc advice and support to the Director.
