Harkie attends Park Yoga to create balance in her life and invest in herself as a role model to her daughter

“I hadn’t done yoga for 15-20 years and back then it wasn’t really my cup of tea, but when I saw Park Yoga advertised, I thought you can’t go wrong doing yoga in a park on a lovely, beautiful, bright, sunny day.

I normally go with my 12-year-old daughter who loves it, she’s even invested in a brand-new yoga mat so I’m hoping it will continue the commitment.

We live in a world where we live very busy, hectic, chaotic lifestyles, so for me, my aim of going to Park Yoga was to learn to relax. With work, the kids, household chores etc you’re constantly on the run. But Park Yoga is helping me create a balance in my life that enables me to calm myself down, take stock and say this hour is all about me and investing in myself.

I find it very difficult to calm down, to switch off, to relax and I didn’t want my daughter to always see me like that; as this mummy who’s always on the go and I must be the same. So, I’m hoping that by doing Park Yoga together it will give her new life skills to help her relax as she starts secondary school, which can be very demanding and challenging, and give her coping strategies across her life.

Park Yoga’s not about being able to bend or not, it’s about getting out of the office or home environment to be in nature surrounded by trees and greenery. I’d encourage anyone to give it a go.”

Park Yoga is suitable for all physical levels and abilities, and no experience is necessary – last year 30% of our participants had never tried yoga before. There’s no need to book, just turn up with a mat (or towel or blanket) and enjoy the session. Visit our venue page to find your closest Park Yoga location.
