First timer’s guide to Park Yoga

Trying Park Yoga for the First Time? Here’s What to Expect:

Thinking about trying your first Park Yoga session? If you’re a regular yogi, total beginner, haven’t touched your toes in years, or simply want a relaxing hour outdoors, our sessions are for everyone absolutely no experience needed.

Stepping into something new can feel daunting. But rest assured, our Park Yoga community is friendly, inclusive, and completely non-judgemental. Everyone is welcome, and we really mean that: everyone.

No Experience? No Problem!

Never done yoga before? That’s absolutely fine. Our sessions are designed for all abilities, so whether you want to follow every pose or simply lie back in Savasana (that’s the relaxing one where you lie on your back) you’ll fit right in.

Yes, really, if you wanted to just soak up the peaceful atmosphere. That’s completely okay. Park Yoga is about tuning in to what you need in the moment.

What Should You Bring?

Don’t worry if you don’t own a yoga mat. Lots of our participants bring a towel or blanket, which works just as well, especially on grass. A bottle of water is a great idea, too. If the weather’s looking chilly or sunny, dressing in layers or wearing sun protection can help you stay comfortable.

Come as You Are

The beauty of Park Yoga is how welcoming and relaxed it is. We’ve heard time and time again from our yogis that the atmosphere is:

  • Inclusive
  • Welcoming
  • Non-threatening
  • Supportive of all abilities and bodies

Not sure what to expect? That’s totally normal. You’re welcome to arrive a few minutes early to introduce yourself to the instructor. If you want to let them know it’s your first time they’ll be happy to answer any questions and help you feel at ease.

Equally if you’d prefer to just turn up quietly and join in with as much or as little as you like, that’s perfectly fine too. There’s no pressure to perform, push yourself, or look a certain way.

Why Not Give It a Go?

Find your nearest venue and join us to stretch, relax and enjoy some peaceful time in nature, Park Yoga might be just what you need on a Sunday morning.
