Meet your instructor: Punam

Punam is an Indian Yoga teacher and an artist, known for her accessibility, humour and able to empower her students through her message, “setting up the true intention for the practice” Born and raised in India, Punam began her journey in yoga in her childhood, having been introduced to morning practice at home. Yoga Asanas and Pranayama have helped her to lead a disciplined life, achieving the master’s degree in psychology. She came to understand the philosophy of yoga practice rooted in the connection between the mind, body and soul. Consequently, she travelled India, exploring yoga in its many forms alongside learning folk arts in rural villages. Punam, motivated by this resounding experience, elected to pursue a different career path as a schoolteacher, focusing on her favourite subjects: yoga and the arts. Spurred by her evident popularity amongst children and parents, she chose to start her own ‘Yoga and Arts’ initiative in India, undergoing 200 hours of formal yoga teacher training in 2004 before coming to the UK. She progressed to become a full-time yoga and arts teacher in England, travelling the UK (as well as occasionally to India) to host and teach at numerous yoga seminars and fairs. In her teaching, Punam emphasizes focus on Pranayam, Asanas for joints, Asanas for the mind and body, meditation, and relaxation.
