Meet your instructor: Trish

My Yoga Journey began almost 30 years ago in Rishikesh, India. The lessons were intense, nurturing is not a word that comes to mind!, but despite the brusque approach and the ‘muscle fever’ that was only relieved by more practise – yoga has found me!
After returning to the UK I began to practise Iyengar Yoga and continued with this tradition for many years. I completed a Yoga Teacher Diploma (Hatha Yoga) in 2006 and have been teaching, in a variety of contexts and settings, since then. I am a bit of an ‘alignment-nerd’ and am always concerned when yoga is led, not taught, without a focus on listening to, and respecting, our physical bodies.

I went on to complete post-graduate Yoga Therapy Diploma (I am registered with the Complementary and Natural HealthCare Council) and this taught me the importance of ‘function over form’ and that alignment for one body might not ‘look’ the same as it does for another. It also helped me to truly embed both pranayama (breath control) and meditation into my personal practise as well as my teaching.

My current passion projects include yoga on ‘social’ prescription, yoga therapy for trauma and PTSD and, of course, Park Yoga!

During a career dedicated to teaching and training, life has happened. It has taken twists and turns; there have been highs and lows. It took years to embed a daily yoga practise, both on and off the mat, into my life and I am – of course – still learning but one thing that I am sure of, is that yoga has been my guiding light throughout and I will be eternally grateful that yoga found me.

It would be my pleasure to share your yoga journey with you.
